Commissions 5/7

The majority of my work has been made up of private commissions around the subject matter of house and garden portraits. The idea of home is something that we all have a strong sense of. Home is a place that we can make our own, where we can feel safe, secure and a real sense of belonging. A place where families grow up and make memories together. That is why I love to paint and draw these places that evoke such strong emotions. I take a great deal of care and attention over every single commission in order to do the subject matter justice through my brush strokes or pencil marks. I enjoy adding details to these paintings which can go further in personalising each piece for example, including the family pets in the foreground or even children playing on the lawn.

I have worked on literally thousands of these paintings over the years and there are many that I have fond memories of. One such commission was for a couple who I met back in 2012 in North Yorkshire. They decided to commission not just one, but a series of over 20 individual pieces of their home and garden. The final pieces were all eventually mounted and framed and I was able to make a special album with a record of all the original artwork throughout. This commission was made even more significant as it was to mark the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary. Here are some pictures of the completed commission.
